Specialized Memory Clinic Being Established In Kenora

A new clinic is being established in northwestern Ontario to help dementia patients and their caregivers.

The specialized clinic will be held in Kenora in association with the Sunset Country Family Health Team.

Executive director Randy Belair says the number of people in our area with memory problems is growing, due to an aging population.

Belair believes the clinic will improve diagnosis, which has a significant impact on peoples lives.

The first two clinics are set to begin in mid-April and Belair says the team plans to hold two clinics per month.

Staff have received extensive training from Dr. Linda Lee of Kitchener-Waterloo to help treat those with dementia, Alzheimer’s and associated problems.

The Kenora memory clinic will be the 78th in Ontario, but the only one in the northwest region.
