Lobby effort for Canadian Border Patrol

Fort Frances Town Council is supporting a lobby effort by the Customs Excise Union to create a Canadian border patrol.

Mayor Dan Onichuk notes this is not the first time the town has looked into increased security at the border.

Onichuk believes the federal government should be paying for border security in Fort Frances and not the town’s OPP detachment.

The Customs Excise Union is asking for all border communities across Canada for their support in creating a national border patrol.
