A lobbying effort by the Customs Excise Union to create a Canadian border patrol is being supported by Fort Frances Town Council.
Mayor Dan Onichuk notes the town has looked into increased OPP security at the border but realized it was too costly.

At one time, the RCMP had acted as border patrol but a lack of resources led to an end to that service.
The Customs Excise Union is asking for all border communities across Canada for their support in creating a national border patrol.
