The MPP for Kenora-Rainy River is calling for an overhaul of the Northern Health Travel Grant.
Sarah Campbell has put forward a motion to have some significant changes made to how the grant works.
She says she’s had residents express major frustration over some of the restrictions the grant has.
Some of the changes Campbell wants to see includes increased accommodation allowances based on market prices and quicker processing times for applications.
She is also concerned that hundreds of people aren’t covered if they are forced to travel to jurisdictions outside Winnipeg and Thunder Bay.
Campbell adds the $100 allowance provided doesn’t go far enough.
