Local MPP Says Provincial Budget Falls Short Of What’s Needed

Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell is reacting to the recent provincial budget.

Campbell stresses while the fiscal document pledges to make changes to drug and dental coverage, it falls short of creating meaningful change.

The NDP member says the budget falls flat in terms of the relief and support northerners are seeking in areas such as health care, the Health Travel Grant program and hydro costs.

She is encouraged by the offer of free child care for pre-school children, but notes it still leaves a gap for parents with infants or toddlers.

Campbell is also upset that there isn’t a commitment to four-lane the Trans-Canada highway, west of Thunder Bay.

Campbell says the Liberals have had 15-years to make meaningful progress in areas of health, hydro and transportation, but states that after this long reign they have little to show us.
