Local Nurses Urged To Provide Input On Government Policy

What are nurses across Ontario’s biggest concerns regarding local and provincial health care issues?

That’s the main question from the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario as they are about to embark on a Fall tour talking to nurses on the front lines.

The Co-Chair for the Kenora-Rainy River Chapter Kathleen Fitzgerald says they want to learn how health policy is affecting nurses as well as the well-being of the people they serve.

Fitzgerald notes one current gap is a lack of mental health services for area youth.

She stresses they northern communities need more programs and services so those impacted by mental health don’t have to travel to Thunder Bay for on-going treatment.

Fitzgerald says the feedback they receive will be used to present to the leaders of the Provincial political parties during the next election.
