Local Police Receive Funding For Safety Initiatives

The Dryden Police Services Board has received provincial funding for its Community Service Enhancement and Community Wellbeing initiative.

The Board is the recipient of $225,000.

The grant will help City Police work with local partners to provide youth with more opportunities within the community.

The program ensures youth have a sense of inclusion in the Dryden area, where they can get involved in events and healthy activities in a safe environment.

The money will also help address mental health and behavioural concerns and improve access to services.

The Red Lake Police Services Board is also welcoming cash for the development of a community safety and well-being plan.

The Red Lake CIRCLE situation table is getting more than $157,000 for the initiative.

The group is working with community partners to meet local needs and mitigate risky situations.

The funding will allow for the addition of an external consultant to assist in the creation of the strategy.

Ontario Solicitor General Sylvia Jones says “Our government is investing $195-million in public safety over the next three years through the province’s ‘Community Safety and Policing Grant’ program.
