A Dryden resident is trying to secure an Airforce base at the Dryden Airport.
The federal government has announced plans of a third training facility but hasn’t announced a proposed location.
Vance Valdock is leading the campaign, which has been on his mind for the past 2-years and says he has the support of Kenora MP Greg Rickford.
After talking with various community members, Valdock says it’s important that this goes public and see who is in favour of it.
Valdock says we have been hit hard by the forestry sector loss in the region that this will help.
In addition, Valdock says Dryden is well located and notes the airport could be converted for a fraction of the cost, when compared with building new ones.
