A regional initiative to promote tourism and the outdoor experience in northern Ontario and northern Minnesota has picked up a prestigious award.
The Heart of the Continent’s National Geographic geo-tourism project has won the Innovation Award at the Ontario Association of Community Futures Development Corporation Conference.
The Atikokan Economic Development Corporation nominated the project.
Atikokan Community Development Advisor Gord Knowles says they are just starting to see the benefits to the community and they now have a visible presence on-line.
The project provides up-to-date information on events, activities and features of several regional municipalities.
