It may not be a slam dunk for a new contract reached this week between corrections officers and the provincial government.
At least one union official doesn’t like the deal.
Local OPSEU spokesperson Raffaili Tassone says there are just too many concessions for his liking, including the health plan and workers compensation.
Tassone says the concessions they are taking now, they can never get back and notes they are already behind the eight ball.
He believes there’s a better deal out there and he’s recommending his members vote against the deal.
Tassone adds he’s sceptical about a promise to give corrections workers their own contract in 2018.
