The provincial government has launched a public inquiry into the safety and security of residents living in long term care homes across Ontario.
Justice Eileen Gillese, a judge from the Ontario Court of Appeal, will lead the probe.
She’s been given a broad mandate to look at policies, procedures and oversight, but a key focus will be around the deaths of residents who were under the care of Elizabeth Wettlaufer, a former registered nurse now serving a life-sentence.
Gillese will have two years to submit recommendations.
