Lake Superior has set new low-water records in recent days and it looks
like it’ll get even lower.
Superior is more than half a metre below the long-term average for late
summer, and about a third of a metre lower than a year ago.
Drought conditions are only one part of the problem.
American dredging of the downstream St. Clair River is also being
blamed.
Typically, the lake continues to rise during August by about 3
centimetres but this year it’s dropping instead.
