LU Reacts To Tuition Concerns

The president of the Lakehead University Student Union believes we are heading towards a day when university education will not be publicly funded.
The comments by Ian Kaufman follow news that for the first time in Ontario, tuition fees pay the majority of the costs to run universities.
He calls it a concerning development.
Kaufman says keeping universities publicly funded helps everyone have more equal access to higher education.
Kathy Pozihun at Lakehead University says they are projecting tuition in the next school year to represent about 47% of total revenue,
Pozihun says last year that figure was 45.6%.
