Residents of Sunset Country have noticed more sightings of lynx lately.
Brian Merritt, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Natural Resources, says there a couple of reasons for that.
Merritt says the big cats may simply be going through a natural cycle.
He adds their population numbers are directly linked to their prey species the snowshoe hare.
Another factor could be mating season.
Merritt says the female lynx typically begins to ovulate in late winter.
