Opponents of the Federal Long Gun Registry are beaming today.
A private members bill repealing the registry was passed in the House of Commons last night by a vote of 164-137.
Greg Ferrant is a Spokesperson for the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters and says the vote is a step in the right direction.
The bill still has to go before a commons committee for review, but Ferrant says the legislation seems to have some momentum now.
Members of Parliament from across Northern Ontario all voted in favour of repealing the Federal Gun Registry.
