March Is Fraud Prevention Month

The number of complaints of fraud attempts is on the rise across northwestern Ontario.

There have been numerous reports of scams involving banks, the Canada Revenue Agency as well alleged aid agencies.

This is Fraud Prevention Month and Deputy Commissioner of Competition Josephine Palumbo says this is the perfect time to learn more about stopping scammers.

She says one tip is remembering the “three R’s”; recognize, reject and report fraud.

Palumbo notes fraudsters and scammers are smart and know how to use scare tactics to get what they want.
