Mayor Chimes In On Com Centre Closure

Dryden Mayor Craig Nuttall is reacting to the closure of the Dryden Police Communications Centre.
Nuttall says he’s confident that the Owen Sound Police will do a good job at handling local 9-1-1 calls.
To make sure there is a seamless transition, officials with the Owen Sound Police Service will be touring the Dryden area to get a feel for where everything is.
In addition, members of the Dryden Police Service will be making a visit to Owen Sound to make sure there is a good working relationship.
Nuttall says that by closing the com centre, it should save about $700,000 next year.
While there are job cuts, Nuttall says these kinds of things happen and points specifically to the layoffs at DMTS, adding that it’s sad to see, but it’s not the first time.
