Milne-border crossing

The U.S. government is tightening up regulations for boaters wanting to cross into the American side of Lake of the Woods and Rainy Lake.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency requires all private boaters to report to the nearest port of entry.

Mike Milne is a spokesperson for U.S. Customs and says boaters will also be required to be in possession of a new crossing permit, called the I-68.

N015 Q: …their arrivals. (12 secs.)

Milne says three video-phones are also accessible
in the Lake of the Woods and International Falls area for Canadian and American residents who need to report to a customs officer.
