As CKDR told you Monday, Ontario is ready to update its Mining Act for the first time in 100-years.
Consultations have taken place across the Province, including several in Northern Ontario.
The new Legislation will be unveiled Thursday morning.
The Canadian Press has learned the changes will modernize the way companies stake claims to be more respectful of private land.
Sources also say the legislation will clarify the rules on how mining companies deal with First Nations’ communities.
Miners will be required to take training so they know their obligations under the act to land owners and the environment before they can get a prospector’s licence.
