Minister Responds To Energy East Aboriginal Concerns

Canada’s Natural Resources Minister isn’t concerned about First Nations opposition to the Energy East Pipeline.
Recently Grand Council Treaty 3 Grand Chief Warren White spoke strongly against the project, while Regional Chief Stan Beardy sent MP Greg Rickford a letter stating his opposition.
Rickford downplayed the concerns saying Treaty 3 remains active in energy discussions.
Rickford says the Ministry is working to get more communities involved in the National Energy Board hearings.
He adds Natural Resources Canada recently increased funding for communities to seek intervener status in NEB hearings.
