The Ministry of Environment has approved the Terms of Reference for the Rainy River Gold Project, right after Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell brought it up in the legislature.
Campbell says the approval for terms of reference shouldn’t depend on political pressure, but that’s the route they had to take.
Campbell adds after the question period, she spoke to Minister of Northern Development and Mines Michael Gravelle who was also pushing the government to approve the terms, and a few hours later the Environment Minister said they would.
While a big focus has been on the Ring of Fire lately, Campbell says the Rainy River Gold project will create about 500 full-time jobs in the region.
