MNR Says Fishing Changes Meant To Protect Fish Population

The Ministry of Natural Resources is out with details on its changes to fishing regulations on the Wabigoon Chain of Lakes.
Management Biologist Jill Van Walleghem says the decisions were based on public feedback, population statistics and social needs.
She notes the moves will help extend the life of the walleye population in the lake.
Among the changes, a new slot size is being introduced for walleye or sauger between 46 and 58 cm, and a limit to only one fish larger than the slot size.
That brings us to this weeks CKDR News Poll; Do you agree with the new fishing regulations on the Wabigoon Chain of Lakes?
Right now 62% are in favour of the changes, while 9% believe more restrictions are needed to help protect the fish population.
There’s still time to chime in, just visit the CKDR main page.
