Lightning continues to cause headaches for fire crews across northwestern Ontario.
Storms were blamed for another 16 wildfires Thursday.
One of the new fires is a 30 hectare blaze located about nine kilometres west of Sachigo Lake.
It’s not yet under control.
Another fire of concern is located about two kilometres north of Muskrat Dam.
It has grown to about 10 hectares and is also burning out of control.
Currently there are 48 active wild fires burning in the region.
33 are deemed as under control or being held.
The forest fire hazard is high in the Dryden, Thunder Bay and Nipigon Districts.
It’s low to moderate across the rest of the region.
