Moose are nearly extinct in the Northern sections of
Minnesota.
A team of researchers are trying to figure out why the
moose are dying, and recently tagged a number of moose
with tracking devices and thermometers.
Department of Natural Resources Researcher Mark Lenarz
says they want to find out all they can about the moose
population.

The research will also help shed some light on whether
the moose are finding places in the woods cool enough for
them to stay healthy.
The temperature in Northwest Minesota increased about 11
degrees from 1961 to 2001.
