There is controversy in Atikokan in the midst of the absence of the Chief of Police.
The Atikokan Police Services Board has issued a statement saying “the Ontario Civilian Commission on Police Services has been asked to investigate the actions of one of its employees.”
Details of the complaint have not been released however the Board has promised a “fair and transparent process.”
Last month, Sgt. Tim Fairbairn was appointed acting Chief until the end of December.
Chief Bill Baxter has been off duty for a month for unknown reasons and silence surrounds the issue.
The timing of the two is poor as the Town has launched an OPP costing study.
