Another troubling report of Lyme disease in the Kenora district.
Independent researcher John Scott says they collected 94-ticks in a 50-kilometre radius of Kenora and found 39-different ticks with the Lyme bacteria.
Scott says eight different species of ticks tested positive.
He notes many of these ticks are very small and very difficult to find sometimes.
Deer ticks are usually considered the most common host for the Lyme bacteria, but Scott says winter ticks, mouse ticks, groundhog ticks and rabbit ticks have also tested positive.
Scott admits that he is surprised with the findings, noting it shows that the bacteria is deeply entrenched with ticks, birds and mammals throughout the area.
