NDP Leader Calling for Support for the North

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath is demanding the provincial government get jobs for people in Northern Ontario.
She made the demand after a Statistics Canada report showed a sharp increase in employment insurance claims in the region.
But Minister of Northern Development and Mines Michael Gravelle says more than 12,000 jobs have been retained over the last six years through the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund.
He also says $648-million has been invested this year for highway construction in the north.
