Needle Awareness Campaign

Now that the warmer temperatures are finally here, more people are hitting the outdoors.
However, the Northwestern Health Unit wants to remind the public to be careful if you see needles laying around.
Manager of Infectious Diseases Donna Stanley says if you see a needle on the ground, use tongs and gloves to pick it up and put it in a hard-sided plastic container and label it.
Stanley says it’s also important to never try and put the cap back on the needle.
She notes don’t forget to wash your hands after, and needles can be dropped off at the health unit.
