New App For To Increase Railway Safety

Emergency responders now have an additional tool that will help protect communities.

CN and CP Rail will be utilizing a new mobile App to provide information to communities on what is being shipped across the country.

AskRail provides first responders with real-time details on rail-car contents.

The information will help emergency crews promptly respond and deal with any train derailment and spill.

The Railway Association of Canada says access to this information can help responders make informed decisions at the outset of a crash or derailment.

The group notes it’s another move to ensure Canada’s railways are working with communities on emergency response training and preparation.

Already, more than 1,700 North American emergency responders have signed up for the App.
