New Labour Laws Introduced

Canada is one step closer to welcoming modernized labour laws.

Patty Hajdu is the Minister responsible and she has introduced legislation, that if passed, will improve the lives of federally regulated workers.

The bill would include new rules for breaks and leaves.

Hajdu says it would reduce the minimum standards for holiday pay and provide paid personal leaves if you are sick or facing a crisis.

The Thunder Bay-Superior North MP says the plan is to protect the most vulnerable people in the workplace.

An expert panel has been appointed to look at other changes.

The legislation still needs to pass a number of hurdles and it could take up to a year-and-a-half before it’s implemented.
