First Nations in Ontario have chosen Angus Toulouse to be their new
Regional Chief.
Toulouse is Chief of the Sagamok Anishinabek First Nation near
Sudbury.
He replaces Charles Fox, who is stepping down after five years.
The election came in a traditional standing-vote ceremony in Eagle River.
Toulouse says he’s humbled by the honor.
He says he plans to continue working on a co-operative
relationship with both the Federal and Provincial Governments.
The 3 day All-Ontario Chiefs Conference continues today with housing, health and education issues the topics of discussions.
