Nine New Forest Fires Spark On Thursday

The rain has helped but several overnight lightning strikes and dry conditions in the forecast has the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry keeping an eye on the forest fire situation.

There were nine new reported fires Thursday across the northwest.

Two lit up in the Sioux Lookout district and four all still listed as not under control.

The number didn’t include the brush fire in Red Lake that forced the brief evacuation of the High School.

The fire hazard remains high in the southern portion of the region and moderate everywhere else.
