It’s not known right now which way Dryden Council is leaning in finding a replacement for Darryl Skinner.
Options were presented Monday night, however there was no discussion on the best course of action.
Skinner has confirmed his resignation effective July 19th.
He says he had to make a decision that was based on what was right for his family and notes unfortunately that will take him and his family out of the community.
Skinner says it was an honour to serve and represent the citizens of Dryden, stressing his time spent in the community has been fantastic.
Skinner notes there are two outstanding issues that he wants to see laid to rest before he leaves.
That’s the upcoming OPP costing vote and ensuring Council is headed in the right direction if by chance the Barclay Fire Hall comes up in conversation again.
Council has several options to find a replacement, including going back to the 2014 election and appointing the next runner-up, ironically the same way Skinner got in when Ken Moss stepped down in 2015.
That would be Bryan Crawford.
Another is holding a by-election, however that idea has been consistently turned down due to costing issues.
The last by-election in Dryden was 2012.
Council could also appoint someone they believe is suitable for the job, or accept nominations.
