No End In Sight To College Strike

There is now talk the province-wide college strike may go on for at least another six weeks.

Ontario Public Service Employees Union Rebecca Ward says no new talks are planned.

Rebecca Ward accuses the College Employer Council of attempting to increase fear among faculty and definitely causing fear among students.

Ward stresses the union has been trying to settle the labour dispute.

She says their first proposal was to reverse the current ratio of 70-30 part-time to full-time college staff.

Ward says they made some adjustments in their second offer and came back with a fair 50-50 split.

Ward notes three-quarters of college staff are pre-carious workers, with no union protection and little pay.
