The Canadian Union of Postal Workers is slowly ramping up its job action in the on-going labour dispute with Canada Post.
The union has now instructed letter carriers to work no more than 8 hours a day, regardless of whether they have completed their routes.
Postal workers will now withdraw from working overtime until a new contract is negotiated.
Rotating strikes also continue in various parts of the country Thursday.
Contract talks with a mediator continue, but the union says there has been little progress on overtime, hours of work and staffing.
Meantime, Canada Post is admitting a huge backlog of parcels, indicating it could be days before they are mailed out.
That’s because they are currently sitting in trailers at Canada Post distribution sites in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.
