No Pay Hike For Dryden Councillors

No Christmas bonus for members of Council in Dryden.

Council entered the holiday break by deciding against a proposed pay hike.

The remuneration adjustment was presented after the federal government eliminated a one-third non-taxable allowance for Municipal Councils effective January 1st.

The proposed increase would have boosted pay for Mayor to over 25-thousand dollars, 15-grand for the Deputy Mayor and just over 11-thousand for a member of council.

The net cost to the City of Dryden would have been more than 13-thousand dollars.

However, Council has decided on no adjustments and the remuneration policy will be reviewed in 2021.

Council Remuneration per year
Current:
Mayor-$20,000
Deputy Mayor-$13,500
Council-$10,000

Total Cost: $95,500

Suggested:
Mayor-$25,090.55
Deputy Mayor-$15,396.59
Council-$11,404.73

Total Cost: $108,915.52
