The Northwestern Ontario Associated Chambers of Commerce is out with a number of concerns as part of pre-budget consultations with the province.
President Nathan Lawrence says current policies for mining companies to pay the full cost of new transmission lines or upgrades is detrimental to mineral development in the region.
Lawrence adds there needs to be more focus put on skilled trades training.
He’s also pushing the government to move forward in the planning and development of the Ring of Fire.
NOACC took time to call for a long term, fully funded plan for highway investments.
Lawrence says routine traffic closures have a negative impact on the regional and national economy.
He stresses the government should ensure there are alternate routes available.
