A local regional chiefs’ council says having a safe workplace can set off a domino effect.
The Nokiiwin Tribal Council is holding a two-day Aboriginal Health and Safety Conference at the end of the month.
Spokesperson Jeff Robert says the emphasis is on nurturing safety champions in the workplace, and, in turn, at home and in the community.
Project Coordinator Ed Collins says they’ve been hearing from the communities they serve about the need to create a safety culture outside of the office.
