A delegation from the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association will be meeting with the Ontario Energy Board this week to discuss the proposed Energy East pipeline project.
NOMA Vice President Iain Angus says they’re bringing with them a document that contains requirements TransCanada Pipelines will have to meet if they want the region’s continued support of the project.
Angus says they have serious concerns about who will be dispatched to help clean up a potential spill.
Angus notes they also have concerns about TransCanada’s definition of what a significant body of water is, noting pipes going through Northwestern Ontario lakes could impact drinking water and fish habitat.
