NOMA Upset With New Legislation

The provincial government has gone ahead and passed the Protection of Public Act.

It’s more informally known as “Anti-Slaap” legislation and its drawn the ire of the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association.

President Dave Canfield is worried the bill will now allow environmental groups to freely slander the forest industry without any repercussions.

Canfield says NOMA did recommend a number of amendments to the legislation, none of which were adopted by the government.
