Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP Don Rusnak believes Canada has gained the upper hand on the trade front.

Rusnak says a much bigger market has been opened with our country signing onto the revamped TransPacific Partnership deal, and the U.S. not taking part.

He believes our nation is now one of the biggest players in the foreign market.

The Liberal member is also pleased with the status of NAFTA renegotiation talks.

Rusnak says our country has made a stand to ensure employment and environment standards are protected.

Negotiators in the U.S. and Canada say some progress has been made in talks, which are set to resume in Mexico.
