Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is defending his government’s decision to bolster employment insurance benefits in 12 specific regions of the country hard hit by unemployment.
Northern Ontario is one of them.
Trudeau denies the selection was based on politics.

Claimants in the selected regions will soon be able to receive benefits up to 50-weeks.
