Northerners Die Young 2

Men and women living in Northwestern Ontario are dying at a younger age
then those in other parts of the province.
The troublesome conclusion is from the Northwestern Health Unit ‘Health
Status’ report.
Dr. Val Mann says life expectancy in the Region is at 73.6-years for
men and 77.4-for women, 5-years less than other areas of Ontario.

Suicide rates, cancer rates, ciculatory diseases, stroke and
respiratory diseases are also much higher in the District however smoking
rates are down.
