If you see a driver smoking in a vehicle carrying a child under the age of 16, that driver is now breaking the law.
A new law that takes effect Wednesday, “Weedless Wednesday”, is designed to shield children from second-hand smoke inside cars and trucks.
As Ontario Medical Association president Dr. Ken Arnold puts it, it’s unfair to put kids with healthy lungs in a smoke-filled “tin box.”
Ontario drivers who smoke with kids in the car or truck could
face fines of up to $250.
Police will be in charge of enforcement.
