A new line of thinking about northern Ontario.
A report from the Northern Policy Institute suggests it would be better for our economy to treat northern Ontario as eleven separate areas.
It divides the North into six so-called “city-regions” like Kenora and Thunder Bay, and five “industrial corridors” like Fort Frances and Greenstone-Marathon.
The Institute says government funding and planning should be tailored to each specific region because communities in the North are so diverse.
