Nuisance Bears Truely a Nuisance

The Ministry of Natural Resources says black bears are becoming a common nuisance across much of the province.
Calls to the provincial “Bear Wise” reporting line are up slightly over last year in northwestern Ontario.
But the numbers for the rest of the province have jumped significantly.
In the northwest region, the hotline had 1,500 calls requiring a response by the M-N-R or police.
Bear Wise program officials say the increase in calls can be attributed to berries ripening late, due to a cool and damp spring
and summer.
