NWOTA Proposes a bed tax

A tourist group in northwestern Ontario is looking at developing a bed tax for resorts across the region to generate money for marketing.

Jerry Fisher is vice-president of the Northwestern Ontario Tourist Association and says they are following the lead of other tourist organizations in the region.

Fisher says the amount of money the federal and provincial levels of government put into tourist promotion is simply inadequate.

He says they need to find ways of increasing their marketing dollars.
