Gilles Arthur Poirier, of Dryden, Ontario, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2026, at the age of 84, with his loving family by his side.
Gilles was a devoted husband to Yvette Poirier, a proud father to his two daughters, Brigitte (Stephen) and Natalie (Maurice), and a loving grandfather to his grandsons, Nicholas and Owen, and his granddaughter, Kassidy. His family was an important part of his life, and he leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will be treasured forever.
Gilles had a deep love for the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He found happiness in the peace and beauty of nature, whether spending a day on the water, enjoying the quiet of the woods, or simply being outdoors. These passions were a big part of who he was and brought him many years of enjoyment.
Those who knew Gilles also knew that one of his favourite places to be was his garage. He could often be found there with a beer in hand, visiting with friends and reflecting on the day’s events. His garage was a place of friendship, laughter, stories, and good conversation. There was always time to sit back, share a drink, and talk about life. These simple moments were what made life special to Gilles, and they will be fondly remembered by everyone who shared them with him.
Gilles appreciated the simple pleasures in life: time with family, days spent fishing and hunting, and evenings enjoying the company of good friends. He leaves behind not only the memories of the life he lived, but also the stories, laughter, and connections that will continue to bring comfort to those who knew and loved him.
Though his passing leaves a deep sadness, there is comfort in knowing that Gilles was surrounded by his family as he peacefully said goodbye. His memory will live on in the hearts of his loved ones and in the familiar places he enjoyed so much.
As per Gilles’ wishes cremation has taken place, and there will be no service.

Rest peacefully, Gilles. May the waters always be calm, the fishing line always be tight, the woods be peaceful, and there always be a cold beer waiting in the garage. You will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten. ♥
