September 25, 1960 – October 8, 2026
With immense grief, we are heartbroken to announce Laurel Dawn’s unexpected passing on Thursday, October 8, 2026, at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.
Laurel was born on September 25, 1960, in Winnipeg as Allan and Coral’s third child. She was met by siblings Ron and Shelly and was quickly followed by Crystal and Craig. Despite the chaos the five of them caused, their house was filled with love, laughter, food and too many memories to count.
She will be remembered as the best Nana by her grandson Abel and forever missed by her daughter Nicole (Steven) and son Tyler (Katie).
Laurel leaves behind her sister, Crystal (Mike) and brother Craig (Shannon), who will laugh often at the memories they shared with their beloved Sister.
She will be missed as Auntie Laurie to nieces Melissa (Jaime), Kaileigh (Brad), Tasha and Taylor (Eric) and nephews Michael, Nicholas, Donovan and Jesse (Amy).
Always loving babies and little ones, Laurel took great joy in being Great Auntie to Grace, Claire, Lyndy, Hutton, Jaxson, Weston, Lexi, Nova, Grady, and Mara.
Laurel will be missed by numerous aunts, an uncle, cousins and the many friends she made easily over the years.
Laurie was predeceased by her parents, Allan and Coral, brother Ron and sister Shelly.
A special thank you to Nurse Natalie and Dr. Stallwood at TBRHSC for the incredible care, kindness and professionalism shown to Laurel.
The family appreciates the outpouring of love and support they have received from friends and family. It has been a comfort during this most difficult time.
A Celebration of Laurel will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, from 1:00PM to 5:00PM at the Oxdrift Community Hall.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Everest Funeral Chapel, 299 Waverley Street, at Algoma.
