The Chief Firearms Office is out with a new rule for firearm owners who compete in sport shooting.
Every person who visits a range that isn’t their home club must receive a letter of invitation from the range, before transporting their firearm.
Spokesperson Greg Farrant with the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters says it means more pointless paperwork.
Farrant says majority of the people who run shooting clubs are already volunteers, and now they will have to send out hundreds of emails or letters to people who want to shoot in a competition.
He adds that every firearm holder is already subject to a strict set of rules and regulations when it comes to using and transporting their firearm.
OFHA says they will be writing a letter to the CFO asking what the purpose is for this new regulation.
